Gina Freuen, Spokane, Washington began her career in 1974 as an Artist in Residence position at the Spokane Art School. She was a founding member, 1985, serving 10 years for the Northwest Museum of Art’s “ArtFest.” Gina Freuen was awarded the City of Spokane’s “Arts Award for Individual Artist,” the Carol Duke Award of Excellence at the Bellevue Art Museum’s“ArtsFair” and Best of Show at the Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival. She was a 1996 Washington State Artist Trust “Gap Grant” recipient. Her work has been widely published and exhibited throughout the Pacific Northwest including the recent, “100 Northwest Artists” Author: E. Ashley Rooney. Since 1996, Gina Freuen has been on the art department teaching faculty of Gonzaga University, retiring May of 2016 and in fall of 2013 joined Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery, Spokane, WA as an exhibiting partner. Her ceramic works are a partnership between hand building, wheel construction and the artistic whim of the flame and smoke in the atmospheric kiln firing process.
