Ken Turner

1956 - 2023

"Make the work that makes you happy.
Regardless of how others feel about it.
If you truly love what you're doing, don't stop.
Just follow where it takes you.
Clay connects, through making, sharing, and experiencing it together."
— Ken Turner

Surrounded by his wife Laura and close family, Kenneth Dean Turner, aged 67, passed away November 7, 2023, after a ten-year battle with cancer. You can read more about Ken’s life, read stories, and post messages on his online memorial page.

Ken will be remembered as a jewel in the crown of Pacific Northwest artists, developing deep and loyal connections to this rich and diverse community. His passing is a loss that will reverberate throughout the artistic landscape he leaves behind.

In recognition of Ken Turner and his remarkable journey in the world of ceramics, his commitment to sharing his profound passion, and his unwavering pursuit of ceramic knowledge, Rain City Clay has bestowed his name upon their recently updated glaze lab, The Ken Turner Glaze Lab at Rain City Clay.

It was Ken's request that a memorial or formal service not be held at this time.  If you wish to honor Ken's life, please do so by making a donation to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center where Ken found partners and champions in his fight to live.  https://secure.fredhutch.org
